Kupwara: A delegation of Chowkidars and Lumberdars Tuesday met Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to highlight their plight and accordingly sought increment in monthly wages.
The delegation during the hour long meeting with ADC Ghulam Nabi Bhat in presence of Tehsildar Trehgam and other officials said that majority of them have been working for last 40 years now, however they are being provided with meagre wages.
They said that despite providing their services in various sectors including Irrigation, revenue, education, they are being overlooked every now and then.
The delegation expressed hope that district administration Kupwara will take the matter into consideration to take necessary measures as to alleviate their concern.
Additional Deputy Commissioner after giving a patient hearing to the concern of the delegation members appreciated the services rendered by the Chowkidars and Lumberdars.
ADC assured the delegation that the issue putforth will be forwarded to higher authorities for an early resolution *(Kashmir Glory)*
