Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is expected to witness a spell of light rain and thundershowers in the coming days, followed by generally cloudy conditions with intermittent rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across several areas over the next two days, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
The forecast indicates that from May 3 to May 4, multiple locations across the Union Territory may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, possible hailstorms, and winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.
The weather activity is expected to ease slightly on May 5, with another brief spell of showers likely at isolated places. Thereafter, conditions are forecast to remain largely dry between May 6 and May 9, although isolated afternoon showers cannot be ruled out.
Light rain is again expected at isolated locations on May 10 and May 11, suggesting a return of mild weather activity toward the latter part of the period.
In view of the expected conditions, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar has advised farmers to suspend agricultural operations from May 3 to May 5 to avoid potential losses due to rainfall, hailstorms, and strong winds.
No extreme weather warning has been issued, but authorities have urged caution, particularly in areas prone to gusty winds and localized hailstorms. [KNT]
