Baramulla: A fire incident was reported on Monday afternoon at the Main Market area of Baramulla, popularly known as Sabzi Mandi, triggering a swift response from the Fire and Emergency Services.
Officials said that following the fire incident, fire tenders from the local fire station were rushed to the spot without delay. On reaching the area, fire personnel found that a generator, an electrical switchboard and a wooden counter kept outside a shop had caught fire.
The flames were brought under control in time, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby shops and the larger market complex. Due to the prompt action of fire personnel, no major damage was reported in the busy commercial area.
Authorities said there was no loss of life or injury in the incident. Preliminary assessment indicates that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, though officials said a detailed inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause. [KNT]
