Jammu: Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar arrived in Jammu on Monday to extend her support to the ongoing flood relief operations spearheaded by Jammu actor Sanyam Pandoh and his team at Srihan Helps Foundation in collaboration with Sam’s Production. Her visit, though brief, has brought national attention to the devastating floods in Jammu and Kashmir and injected renewed energy into local humanitarian efforts.

Upon arrival, Bhumi headed straight to the revered Bawe Wali Mata temple, where she prayed for the well-being of flood victims and sought blessings on the first day of Navratri. She was joined by Sanyam Pandoh and actress Yasshika Khajuria. Speaking to reporters outside the shrine, Bhumi said she wished for the swift recovery and rehabilitation of families affected by the calamity.

“I have been following the relief work led by Sanyam on social media, and his team’s dedication moved me deeply. I felt compelled to reach out and ask how I could contribute,” she told the media. “This is not just about material aid but about standing in solidarity with the people of Jammu during this difficult time.”

Her arrival was warmly welcomed by local volunteers, who said her presence would act as a morale booster. Actor Sanyam Pandoh, who has been coordinating distribution of essential supplies in the worst-hit neighbourhoods, expressed gratitude. “Despite the scale of the disaster, no one from outside Jammu came forward, except Bhumi Pednekar. Her presence means a lot to us and to the people struggling on the ground,” he said.

He added that Bhumi’s involvement would draw national attention to the crisis. “Her visit will serve as an eye-opener. We hope more individuals and organisations across India will step forward now to help us in our relief mission,” he said.

Although her visit was limited to a single day due to a busy shooting schedule, Bhumi vowed to cover as many affected families as possible. She also pledged to use her connections in the film industry to expand the circle of support. “I will try to reach out to my Bollywood colleagues and mobilise more resources. Jammu should not be left alone in this hour of crisis,” she said.

The floods, which swept through several low-lying areas of Jammu, have left behind widespread destruction. Families have lost homes, livestock, and livelihoods, with many still dependent on relief camps for food and shelter. Officials say rehabilitation could take months, given the scale of damage to infrastructure. [KNT]
