Srinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting spells of moderate to heavy rain with brief intense showers over several districts of Jammu region in the next 12 hours.
The affected areas are likely to include Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Samba and Udhampur, where heavy rainfall and intense showers may occur intermittently. The IMD has cautioned that such weather conditions could trigger flash floods and landslides at vulnerable locations.
Authorities have urged people, particularly those living in landslide-prone and low-lying areas, to remain alert and avoid venturing near streams and flood channels during the period of active rainfall.
The advisory comes at a time when several parts of Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed weather-induced calamities over the past week, including cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides that have claimed lives and caused extensive damage. [KNT]
