Srinagar: PDP leader Waheed Para on Thursday criticized the rejection of his party’s proposed Land Rights and Anti Bulldozer Bill, saying the decision had ignored the plight of families who are losing homes, land and dignity.
In a post shared on social media, Para uploaded a video showing a confrontation during an alleged eviction drive and said the scenes reflected exactly why the PDP had introduced the bill in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. He alleged that the National Conference and BJP had voted against the proposal, calling the decision insensitive to those being rendered landless.
Para said the bill was aimed at providing legal safeguards to people facing evictions and alleged demolitions, and claimed its rejection had left vulnerable families without protection.
The video shared by the PDP leader was widely circulated on social media, with users debating the issue of demolitions and land rights in the Union Territory. [KNT]
