Tral: Deep grief has engulfed Hari Parigam Tral after news broke that Javaid Ahmad Rather, also known as Mubashir, son of Mansoor Ahmad Rather, lost his life in the accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station on Friday night. Javaid, a cameraman with the J&K Crime Branch, was among the nine personnel and officials killed while handling recovered explosive material linked to an ongoing investigation.
At his native village in Tral, locals gathered in large numbers as the tragedy sent shockwaves across the area. Javaid, widely known for his humble nature and professional dedication, was remembered with immense respect.
“He was the pride of our village,” said Abdul Rashid, a neighbour. “Always soft-spoken, always ready to help anyone who came to him. We still cannot believe he is gone.”
Another local, Irfan Ahmad, described Javaid as exceptionally sincere in his work. “He never hesitated, no matter how tough the assignment was. He used to say that serving the department with honesty was his responsibility. Today, the entire village feels shattered.”
Women in the locality also spoke about the void left behind. “His mother is inconsolable. Javaid was her strength,” said a local woman, shaking with emotion. “He was too young to leave this world like this.”
Neighbours said Javaid’s commitment to his job and his calm disposition had earned him respect across Tral. “He never spoke ill of anyone,” said another resident. “A man with such a pure heart did not deserve such an end.”
The accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station killed nine personnel, including an SIA officer, FSL experts, revenue officials and photographers, while more than thirty others were injured. Javaid was on duty when the explosion occurred during the handling of volatile material linked to a terror-related investigation.
The people of Hari Parigam have appealed for full support to the bereaved family and prayed for strength to endure the loss. [KNT]
