SRINAGAR : Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Forum (KTMF) President Yasin Khan was Saturday arrested along with two dozen traders during a protest march against the proposed implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Jammu and Kashmir.
A spokesman said that Khan was leading a protest march towards the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar where a special session is underway to debate the GST implementation.
“After holding an hour-long sit-in at Lal Chowk, we began a march towards the secretariat. However, policemen stopped us in Budshah Chowk and arrested Khan and over two-dozen traders,” he said. Khan was lodged at Kothibagh police station, said the spokesman.
The traders’ body has called for a shutdown across the Valley today against the GST implementation in the state, maintaining that it will erode the financial autonomy of the state.
