SRINAGAR: The students of schools and colleges clashes with the security forces in Sopore, Magam, Langate of North Kashmir and in Anantnag of south Kashmir when they tried to stage protest against the alleged highhandedness of security forces.
In Sopore, the students of Boy’s Higher Secondary School pelted stones on security forces deployed on the gate of the school triggering clashes.
Reports said that forces had been deployed on the main gate of the school which annoyed the students who started protesting by raising pro-freedom slogans and pelting stones.
The forces fired tear smoke shells on protesting students creating chaos in the area. Soon the students of the Degree College also joined the Higher Secondary Students hence intensifying protests, sources said.
In Magam, intense clashes between students and forces erupted after police allegedly came to arrest some students.
Reports said that a police and CRPF party entered the premises of Govt Degree College and Higher Secondary School Magam as the class work was going on. Reports said that the arrest of six students triggered protest followed by the clashes.
Demanding release of the arrested students, stone pelting students were charged with teargas shelling by security forces.
In Langate, Clashes erupted between students and forces when the students of Government Higher Secondary School Langate took to streets to protest against the student arrests.
Forces lobbed teargas shells to disperse the protesting students, triggering clashes.
Following the clashes, shopkeepers downed their shutters and traffic went off the roads.
In Anantnag, the Students held a protests demonstration against the alleged army highhandedness in Dooru town. The anguished students alleged that some of their schoolmates were beaten by Army.
Reports said that the protest erupted initially at Nowgam Verinag when some of the students were allegedly beaten by Army following minor stone pelting on Army vehicle that was coming from Kapran.
Reports said that the army stopped passenger busses and asked passengers to come down. The army as per reports at the spot army beat a few students and took away their identity cards, which triggered protest in Dooru.
