Samba: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the Special Operations Group and Jammu Police on Saturday launched a house-to-house search operation in different localities of the Bari Brahmana industrial area in Samba district as part of heightened security measures.
Officials said joint teams of SOG and police carried out searches in residential pockets, focusing on verification of occupants, documentation checks and scrutiny of identity cards of inmates residing in the area. The operation was aimed at strengthening the security grid and preventing any potential threat during the upcoming national event.
Police personnel were seen moving door to door, checking the credentials of residents and tenants, while also verifying records maintained by landlords. Officials said the exercise was conducted systematically and peacefully.
Authorities said such verification drives are a routine security practice ahead of important occasions like Republic Day, particularly in sensitive and industrial areas with a floating population.
Police urged locals to cooperate with security forces and ensure proper documentation to avoid inconvenience. Officials added that similar security exercises are being carried out across other parts of the Jammu region to ensure a safe and peaceful Republic Day. [KNT]
