Srinagar: National Conference Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday clarified that participation in the party’s election campaign is entirely voluntary and that no one is compelled to take part in campaign activities.
Addressing questions related to party leader Aga Ruhullah’s participation, Omar Abdullah said, “When we were asked about Aga Ruhullah, our answer was clear — no one is forced to campaign. Those who wish to participate, do so willingly. Those who don’t want to, simply don’t.”
He asserted that the ongoing campaign has been receiving strong public support and expressed confidence in its success. “Our efforts will succeed, and those who chose not to support us in this journey cannot be part of our success later,” Omar Abdullah remarked.
Omar Abdullah’s statement comes amid reports of differing opinions within party circles regarding the level of engagement of certain senior leaders in the current campaign. [KNT]
