NC likely to field Aga Mehmood in Budgam by-election

Srinagar: The National Conference (NC) is likely to announce Aga Syed Mehmood as its candidate for the Budgam by-election, with a formal declaration expected soon.

Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Mehmood, a senior NC leader and former minister, has substantial voter base in the constituency.

Budgam has been an NC stronghold since 1977. In the last assembly election, NC secured a victory margin of over 18,000 votes. The party enjoys significant support among both Sunni and Shia communities, a unique advantage to it

The by-election is scheduled for November 11, with counting on November 14.

Other candidates in the fray include BJP’s Aga Syed Mohsin and independent candidate Jibran Dar—(KNO)
