Srinagar, Aug 26 : A leopard was rescued alive after it got entangled in a wire at Bandi village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said that locals spotted the leopard trapped in the wire and immediately informed the Wildlife Department.
Soon after, a joint team of Wildlife Department, Police, Forest Protection Force and Army rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After hectic efforts, the team managed to safely free the leopard from the wire.
An official of the Wildlife Department said the leopard seemed ill and had sustained injuries after being trapped.
“The animal has been taken into custody for medical examination and will be kept under observation. After assessing its health condition, a call will be taken to release it in a suitable wildlife sanctuary,” the official said.
The timely rescue brought relief among locals. (GNS)
