SRINAGAR : Altaf Ahmad Wani NC MLA from Pahalgam constituency while talking to Press Trust of Kashmir said that No Objection Certificates (NOC) are being given to influential Land grabbers for constructing the high commercial structures on this land in Pahalgam
“Top forest officials have issued NOCs in favour of Land grabbers in Pahalgam under the cover of fraud 60-C gazette has come into my notice and looking into it very closely”, said Altaf Kaloo”.
He said that this matter is very serious if forest department fail to take any action regarding these NOCs within a short spin of time, there will be a mass agitation.
“There will be no compromise and i will not allow any alternation, surprisingly the forest department instead of saving this green belt is bent to destroy fragile and charming environment of Pahalgam, which is big unfortunate, he added.
“For checking out this matter which this is happening, i sought the personnel Intervention of Governor NN Vohra, CM and Lal Singh the forest minister, said Altaf Wani”.
“The Land grabbers are letting no stone unturned to get the NOCs but I have a close eye on that and I also know who the Land grabbers are, if the department fails then I warn them that there will mass agitation”, Altaf said”.
“Multiple demarcations have been done by forest department recently but old 60-C gazette was never acknowledged”, he further added.
“Being an MLA of this constituency, I raised this issue in Legislative Assembly and various forums and demanded a prompt action against these Land gabbers who are violating the norms by getting NOCs from forests officials but unfortunately I got a negative response due to unknown reasons, he added”.
He said, “We hope that a prompt action will be taken against these Land grabbers very soon or I warn about mass agitation”.
It is worth to mention here Pahalgam- picturesque hill station being admitted with dense forest cover by govt last year, has seen maximum encroachment in Kashmir.
Mostly these Land Grabbers are Srinagar based businessmen have encroached and grabbed forest land at Pahalgam through the support top forest officials. Politicians, Bureaucrats, govt employees, hoteliers and businessmen are those who belong to Land grabbing, who number is around 50.
