J&K Police Official Nominated as TO for National U-19 Boxing Trials

Srinagar: The Boxing Federation of India has nominated a Jammu and Kashmir Police official as a technical official for the Under-19 selection trials of the Indian Boxing Team scheduled to be held in Pune later this month.

According to an official communication issued by the Boxing Federation of India, a copy of which lies with GNS, Sajjad Pathan of 14th Battalion, IRP, Jammu and Kashmir Police has been appointed as a technical official for the national trials. The trials will take place from January 18 to January 23, 2026 at the Army Sports Institute, Pune, Maharashtra.

The federation stated that the selection trials are being organised as part of the process to identify talent for the Indian Under 19 boxing team. It noted that Mr Pathan is a qualified technical official affiliated with the Boxing Federation of India and has been nominated based on his credentials and experience.

In its letter addressed to the Additional Director General of Police, Armed, Jammu and Kashmir, the federation requested that Mr Pathan be relieved from his duties to enable him to report at the venue on January 18.

Notably, the Boxing Federation of India is the national governing body for boxing in the country and is recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It is also affiliated with World Boxing and the Indian Olympic Association. (GNS)
