Kishtwar, May 9: Expressing dismay over the pace of development works in the rural and far off areas of the district, Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak Monday said that there was urgent need to pull up administration so as to ensure the benefit of government policies and programmes reaches to the general masses.
“The PDP led government was taking historic measures for the welfare of people but the benefit was not reaching to the deserving people due to administrative inertia in remote and far off areas of state”, Tak said. He was interacting with the people during series of public meetings held in Dool area of Kishtwar on Monday.
He said that National Conference which remained in power for more than 30 years in the Chenab Valley has demolished every institution and the party was directly responsible for the miseries people were suffering. “Today when the coalition government is making all efforts to uplift the living standards of downtrodden people and has launched several historical measures there were some people within the system who were hampering the entire process”, he observed adding, “The laxity on the part of any government official will not be tolerated and necessary action would be recommended against anyone found responsible for hindering government schemes and policies”.
“The government has a focused strategy and plans in order to transform the state of Jammu and Kashmir and bring it out of the chaos and confusion besides ensuring financial stability”, he said adding that a new system of public accounting was a major financial reform to ensure public accountability and financial integrity in the government departments.
The legislator was accompanied by Distt President Trade Union Sajad Ahmed Dev, Zonal President Arshid Giri and others. During the tour number of people associated with National Conference, Congress and BJP joined PDP.
He said that Peoples Democratic Party led government has at the very onset closed all the backdoor channels created by Congress-NC combine for adjusting blue eyed persons in the government jobs and the entire recruitment process was made transparent.
He said that in less than two years the present government has sanctioned all the major roads in Kishtwar district including Dachan-Marwah, Nowpachi-Hanzal, Padder road, Renai-Pathgam.
“The National Conference despite being in power for several decades is responsible for the backwardness of this district, which lacks even the basic amenities”, he said, adding that the commitment of this government to provide all weather road connectivity between the two regions of Kashmir and Jammu has also been strengthen following approval of the union government for Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel. Education, roads, financial, health, social welfare and revenue sectors witnessed major reforms in the last two years, he said.
Tak said that the government was keen to uplift basic infrastructure in the rural areas where even the people were suffering due to absence of even the basic amities. He said that government under the leadership of Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti initiated several historical measures in most of the departments in order to provide relief to the rural population. He referred to several social welfare schemes including Ladli Beti, marriage assistance, Asra, enhancement of old age and handicap pension, free education for girl child etc.
He said that rural development department saw a complete transformation in last two years with thrust on creation of assets beside job generation among rural population. “Today every individual in the rural areas has become partner in the development process. The connectivity has improved, assets are generated and guaranteed wages paid to the villagers without any political interference under RDD”, he said.
