Uri: Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, and Skill Training, Satish Sharma, along with MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi Uri, on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed indoor stadium at Kalgi Uri.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sharma, as per GNS, highlighted the longstanding shortage of sports facilities in the Uri constituency and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bridging this gap. He emphasized the need for dedicated sports infrastructure in areas like Kalgi, Pernian, and Sheeri, which would provide local youth with modern platforms to nurture their talent.
During the visit, Minister Sharma also held a public grievance meeting, assuring residents that the government remains committed to addressing their concerns and prioritizing their welfare.
MLA Dr. Sajjad Shafi Uri informed that he has submitted an ₹18 crore proposal to the Government of India for another major indoor stadium, with land already identified at Mohra. “Priority will be given to all indoor and outdoor sports projects. Our youth deserve modern platforms to excel,” he said.
To further enhance connectivity and promote border tourism, Minister Sharma announced the launch of an additional bus service dedicated to the border belt.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the region, the Minister stated that rural and border areas will receive first preference in upcoming development initiatives. He added that all genuine demands raised by MLA Dr. Sajjad Shafi Uri are being addressed on priority. (GNS)
