India’s snow sculpture team holds camp in Manali
The first-ever Snow Sculpture team holds camp in Manali Shimila, titled ‘Snow Fiesta-2017. The team camped in Manali for a week to created a large Snow Sculpture of ‘Shikara’ besides few other small size sculptures.
The event attracts many tourists and locals in Manali,who applauded the team for their creativity and art. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mountaineering Institute provides logistic support to the snow event, which was also the location of the camp in Manali.
The team Callisto is consists of Zahoor Din Lone, Sunil Kushwaha,Mridul Upadhyay and Ravi Prakash. Pertinently, the Snow Fiesta art camp and exhibition was organised at Gulmarag Kashmir for the first time in 2014. The team leader of Callisto, now Team India, Lone, a Kashmiri artist was also team leader of ‘Snow Fiesta-2104, which gained international attention then.
Worth to mention, Snow Fiesta event not only gave India its first Snow Team but also promotes snow art in the state of Jammu and Kahsmir. Now the artists this year shifts to Manali to promote the concept of snow art.
The team is scheduled to compete in the 27th International Snow Sculpture Championships in Colorado, United States to be held next weeks.
