Awantipora: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Awantipora Police on Tuesday attached property worth lakhs belonging to a notorious lady drug peddler in Larkipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Officials said that a double-storey residential house valued at approximately ₹73 lakh, owned by Fareeda Akhter, daughter of Ghulam Rasool Shah of Larkipora, was attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The action followed an inquiry conducted by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Awantipora, Inspector Ajaz Ahmad, under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora. Investigations revealed that the property had been illegally acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking.

Police sources confirmed that Fareeda Akhter has been named in multiple FIRs related to the illegal trade of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Authorities described the property attachment as part of the ongoing campaign to dismantle the financial networks of drug peddlers in the region.

“The operation reflects the unwavering commitment of Awantipora Police to curb the drug menace and bring offenders to justice,” an official said. [KNT]
