Srinagar, Sep 09 : Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a terror module run by an ex-terrorist operating in hybrid mode in north Kashmir’s Handwara.In a handout to GNS, Police said that Handwara Police received reliable information regarding the activities of an ex-terrorist who was operating as a hybrid terrorist as part of a module of the banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in the Handwara–Kupwara area.Acting swiftly, Police along with 21 RR and 92 Bn CRPF launched a joint operation at the identified location in Handwara town and apprehended the accused after a meticulous security drill.He has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Sultan Bhat, resident of Kruhmura Handwara.During his apprehension, one Chinese-made pistol, two magazines and 16 rounds of pistol ammunition were recovered from his possession, police said.Police said the arrested individual is an ex-terrorist who had previously been arrested in two cases.In this regard, a case FIR No. 232 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation is underway to establish the full extent of the module, its network and other associated activities.(GNS)
