Jammu: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Monday said that the demand raised by students for setting up a separate National Law University in Jammu is fully justified, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party will fight for their cause.
Talking to reporters, Sharma said that students from Jammu face genuine difficulties and cannot be expected to pursue legal education in Kashmir. He maintained that the concerns raised by the students are legitimate and must be addressed by the government without delay.
“The demand of students of Jammu is justified. They cannot study in Kashmir, and BJP stands with them. We will fight for a separate National Law University in Jammu,” the Leader of Opposition said.
He said the issue should not be politicised and must be viewed from the perspective of accessibility and regional equity in higher education. Sharma said Jammu has long been demanding premier educational institutions and a National Law University would significantly benefit students of the region.
The BJP leader said his party will raise the issue forcefully on the floor of the Assembly and at all appropriate forums until the demand is met. He added that ignoring students’ concerns would amount to denying equal educational opportunities. [KNT]
