Budgam: A young carpenter lost his life after falling from the roof of an under-construction house in the Mirpora area of Beerwah in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.
Officials said the victim, identified as Mumtaz Ahmed Sofi, a resident of Harda Batapora Budgam, was working at a construction site when he accidentally slipped and fell from the roof. The impact left him critically injured.
He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital by locals and co-workers, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings under relevant sections of law. The body was handed over to his family after completion of medico-legal formalities.
The deceased carpenter, reportedly in his early thirties, was the sole breadwinner of his family, leaving behind dependents who now face an uncertain future. [KNT]
