Budgam Police Arrests Young Drug Peddler in Magam

Budgam: Police in Budgam arrested a young drug peddler during a patrol in Magam area on Saturday, recovering a quantity of contraband from his possession.

According to officials, a police party from Police Post Narbal, led by Head Constable Shabir Ahmad, was patrolling near the railway track at Bachipora village when they intercepted a suspicious individual. On noticing the police, the youth attempted to flee but was quickly chased down and apprehended. A search of his belongings led to the recovery of 63 grams of wet charas-like substance.

The accused was identified as Rouf Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a resident of Hardu Aboora. Police said a case under FIR No. 150/2025 has been registered at Police Station Magam under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been initiated to trace possible linkages.

Budgam Police urged the public to play a proactive role in curbing the menace of drugs by sharing information on peddlers and suspicious activities. “We remain committed to acting tough against drug networks and protecting the youth of the district from falling prey to addiction,” an officer said.

Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and assured that anti-drug operations will continue with greater intensity in coming weeks. [KNT]
