Srinagar: Batamaloo Kashi Mohalla Without Drinking Water for Four Months, Residents Appeal for Relief

Residents of Kashi Mohalla, Batamaloo, Srinagar, have been facing an acute drinking water shortage for the last four months. Locals said the crisis has made their lives miserable, as they are unable to prepare food, feed their families, or even perform basic daily activities.

They added that they do not even have water for ablution, preventing many from offering their prayers. “It is extremely painful for us, not just in daily life but also in fulfilling our religious obligations,” the residents said.

According to locals, the water keys on the main road leading towards Momin Abad, Batamaloo, have been deliberately closed by the PHE department, blocking the supply to the entire area.

The residents said they had approached the concerned Executive Engineer (Exen) several times during the past months, and despite repeated assurances, the water supply has not been restored.

They once again appealed to the higher authorities to take urgent action and restore drinking water to the locality on a priority basis, so that the suffering of hundreds of families comes to an end.
