Bandipora : The residents of Kehnusa village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday held a protest demonstration against the non-availability of drinking water in the village since last month. The protesting residents shouted slogans against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department.
Eye-witnesses told KNO that scores of vehicles were seen stranded after the residents of Kehnusa held a sit-in on the road for about an hour. “We apprised the authorities many times but our pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears. We have been forced to come out on the roads to press for our demand,” said Sajad, a protestor.
The residents alleged that for the past more than a month they are not receiving regular supply of drinking water which had made life difficult for them. After an hour long protest, officials of PHE department reached to the spot and assured the protesters that water supply would be restored in shortest possible time. After the assurances by officials, the protesters dispersed peacefully. (KNO)
