Srinagar, May 2:  Authorities in north-Kashmir’s Bandipora district have on Sunday flattened several structures raised illegally by local residents on agricultural land in Shalkhud Shilvat, Shahdipora in Guzar Mohalla and other adjacent areas in Tehsil Sumbal.

The action has been initiated a day after Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS) reported that several structures were brazenly cropping up in Sumbal Tehsil along Bandipora-Srinagar highway – “Illegal Constructions Crop Up on Agricultural Land in Bandipora Village(s)”, read the headline.

Confirming the dismantling of structures, Tehsildar Sumbal Firdous Ahmad told GNS that the demolition drive was carried out at three sites under his supervision. “We have flattened some plinths alongside demolishing a structure at the sites”, the official informed. (GNS)
