Jammu: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Tuesday ordered the closure of all District and Subordinate Courts across Jammu Province on August 27, citing extraordinary climatic conditions and the high alert sounded by the Divisional Commissioner.

The order, issued under the directions of the Chief Justice and signed by the Registrar General (Officiating), said the decision has been taken in the interest of the safety of all stakeholders in the justice delivery system.

It further directed that in criminal matters of emergent nature, the respective Chief Judicial Magistrates (CJMs) shall adopt the hybrid mode of hearing to avoid inconvenience to litigants, lawyers, and law enforcement agencies. Principal District Judges (PDJs) have been asked to circulate the order immediately and ensure strict compliance. [KNT]
