Leh, March 1: The BDCs of the Sham region held a meeting to discuss issues related to rates of skilled and unskilled labourers, and the registration of new labourers, at the Panchayat Ghar in Khaltsi today.
BDC, Khaltsi, Stanzin Chuskit; BDC, Saspol, Tsering Phuntsog; BDC, Singgay Lalok, Stanzin Yangdol; BDC, Skurbuchan, Tashi Yangskit, and sarpanches and nambardars of Sham region were present during the meeting.
The BDCs discussed fixing labour rates of skilled labourers, including mason (mistry), carpenter, plumber, electrician, painter and stone-cutter, and unskilled labourers. It was decided in the meeting to prepare a rate list of labour for the entire Sham region, and strict action would be taken against defaulters.
It was also decided to make registration of labourers mandatory, and the owner would have to ensure the registration of the labourers.
