Jammu, Oct 23 : Pakistani balloon carrying ‘PIA’ marking was found lying near a resort in Ghou Manhasan area in Jammu on Friday morning.
Reports reaching GNS said that locals spotted the balloon with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) marking at RR Resort in Mahavir Basti, under the jurisdiction of Border Police Post (BPP) Sandwan, and immediately informed the police.
A police team rushed to the spot and took the balloon into custody. The area was thoroughly searched as a precautionary measure.
Officials said such balloons with PIA markings often drift across the International Border due to wind currents, but every such incident is being taken seriously in view of security concerns.
Police said an investigation has been initiated and all angles are being probed.
In recent months, several similar balloons with Pakistani flags, PIA markings and messages have been recovered from border areas of Jammu and Samba districts.(GNS)
