Shopian, Sep5: Shopian Police have apprehended seven persons in connection with a suspicious transaction involving a so-called “Trath Gola”, allegedly being projected as a rare and valuable meteorite stone.The seven individuals were brought to Police Station Heerpora for questioning and further legal proceedings. They have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat of Bagi Islam, Baramulla; Safeeruddin Mir of Rajghat, Baramulla; Abdul Rashid Kirmani of Rawalpora, Srinagar; Mohammad Shafi Mir of Zaloora, Sopore; Imtiyaz Ahmad Bakloo of Pushroo Shangus, Anantnag; Arshid Ahmad Wani of Khurri Batpora, Kulgam; and Syed Gulzar Ahmad of Lakdipora Nihama.During preliminary inquiry, police recovered ₹5 lakh in cash from the spot, along with a box containing a stone allegedly being represented as a rare and valuable “Trath Gola” or meteorite.Two vehicles, bearing registration numbers JK01AQ-1311 and JK03B-5955, were also brought to Police Station Heerpora for further examination.Police said FIR No. 95/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Heerpora, and further investigation is underway to establish the complete facts and circumstances surrounding the transaction.Shopian Police have cautioned the public against falling prey to fraudulent claims involving so-called rare, precious or meteorite stones. People have been advised to verify the authenticity and value of such objects through competent authorities before entering into any financial transaction.Police reiterated their commitment to taking strict lawful action against persons found involved in deceptive or fraudulent practices.[KNT]
