Jammu: Police on Sunday said that acting swiftly on a reliable input, police team of Police Station Satwari in a joint operation with 13 BN BSF, registered a case against two individuals who were allegedly roaming in a public area while openly displaying a pistol, causing panic and insecurity among the local population.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that the accused have been identified as Manzoor Hussain S/o Noor Hussain, R/o Badhori, Tehsil Bari-Brahamana, Samba, and Suraj, S/o Om Parkash, R/o Badhori, Tehsil Bari-Brahamana, Samba. As per the information received, the duo was freely moving within the jurisdiction of the police station while exhibiting a firearm, thereby creating fear and disturbing public order.
Taking prompt action, a joint team of Police Station Satwari and 13 BN BSF apprehended the suspects, following which Case FIR No. 249/2025 U/S 3/25 Arms Act was registered.
During the investigation, the team recovered one pistol along with two magazines, in addition to one pistol-like toy that was allegedly used by the accused to create fear among the public.
Police officials stated that unauthorized possession and display of a firearm in a public place poses a serious threat to public safety and order, reads the statement.(GNS)
