Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regimental Centre on Thursday witnessed the attestation of its sixth batch of Agniveers, marking the successful completion of training for 710 recruits drawn from various parts of the Union Territory.

Held against the snow-lined Zabarwan Range, the ceremony featured an impressive Passing Out Parade marked by sharp drills and military precision. With the attestation formalities complete, the recruits now stand inducted into the Indian Army as Agniveers.

The Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, as per GNS, presided over the ceremony. After reviewing the parade, he commended the recruits for their discipline and determination, noting that their achievement followed months of intensive training. Senior officers from the Army, Air Force, J&K Police, and civil administration also attended, underscoring the importance of the occasion.

Families of the new Agniveers looked on with pride as the young soldiers marched across the parade ground. In recognition of their support and contribution, dignitaries presented the Gaurav Padak to the parents of the recruits.

This batch trained at a time of heightened operational activity in the Valley. Beginning their regimen shortly before Operation Sindoor, the recruits were exposed early to the atmosphere of responsibility and readiness that accompanies service in the region. Officers observing the batch noted that these circumstances further strengthened their confidence and preparedness.

Addressing the Agniveers, the Chief Minister said their induction reflected the aspirations and commitment of Jammu & Kashmir’s youth. He praised the instructors for maintaining high professional standards and urged the recruits to uphold the Army’s core values of courage, integrity, and service.

The ceremony concluded with a final salute and the Tricolour lifting against the winter sky, symbolising both the completion of a challenging journey and the beginning of a new chapter in national service for the young Agniveers. (GNS)
