Srinagar: The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has issued a public notice directing all hotels, restaurants and food establishments across Jammu and Kashmir to ensure strict compliance with safety and regulatory norms, including the installation of CCTV cameras and proper maintenance of visitor and service records.
According to an order accessed by KNT, every hotel and restaurant must install functional CCTV systems covering entry-exit points and common service areas to enhance consumer safety and facilitate monitoring by the authorities whenever required. The department has also emphasised that clear records of guests, staff and service activities must be maintained and produced during inspections.
The notice further instructs establishments to ensure clean kitchens, proper waste disposal mechanisms and adherence to prescribed hygiene standards. All food outlets have been asked to prominently display rate lists, maintain transparency in billing and avoid any form of overcharging.
Authorities have made it clear that teams will carry out inspections to verify compliance. Any violation of the guidelines, the department warns, will lead to appropriate legal action as per the provisions governing consumer protection and public safety.
The public notice urges all stakeholders to cooperate and maintain regulatory standards, stating that the measures are essential for ensuring a safe and transparent service environment for consumers. [KNT]
