Srinagar: With less than 24 hours remaining before the Rajya Sabha voting, two political parties – the Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)- have kept their cards close to their chest.
Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that while the Congress is awaiting directions from its high command, the PDP is in a dilemma over its course of action.
“The Congress is likely to announce its decision after holding a meeting of its legislature party in Srinagar and following consultations with the high command,” sources said, adding that the PDP is currently in a wait-and-watch mode.
“The party is observing the Congress’s move before charting out its own strategy,” the sources added.
The PDP has linked its support in the Rajya Sabha polls to the private member bills introduced by its MLAs.
In the voting scheduled for October 24, the National Conference is expected to comfortably secure three seats. However, a close contest is anticipated for the fourth seat between the National Conference’s Imran Dar and the BJP’s Sat Pal Sharma.
On this seat, the BJP holds 28 votes compared to the National Conference’s 24—(KNO)
