Pulwama: Pulwama Police on Tuesday foiled a drug smuggling bid at Newa area of the district and arrested a woman peddler with contraband substance.
Officials said that 120 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Sheikh Maroofa, wife of Sheikh Tasaduq, a resident of Kathidarwaza Mumkhan, Rainawari, Srinagar.
Police added that a case under FIR No. 217/2025 U/S 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation has been taken up. Notably, her husband, Sheikh Tasaduq, has already been detained under PIT NDPS by Srinagar Police for his involvement in drug trafficking.
Police reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics and appealed to the public to cooperate in rooting out the menace to secure a drug-free society. [KNT]
