Abdul Gani Mir (IPS) posted to J&K segment of joint AGMUT cadre with immediacy

Srinagar: Central government on Wednesday posted senior IPS officer Abdul Gani Mir to Jammu and Kashmir segment of joint AGMUT cadre with immediate effect and until further orders.

An order, a copy of which lies with GNS, in this regard has been passed by Ministry of Home Affairs.

The 94-Batch IPS officer was Abdul Gani was promoted to Director General of Police (DGP) in February 2025, and currently serves in that capacity. A native of Kupwara in the Kashmir Valley, Mir served on several key positions including IGP Kashmir and ADGP CID. Mir also served in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as Inspector General (IG) and then Additional Director General (ADG) before his latest promotion. (GNS)
