Gurez: At least five children from Dawar Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district were hospitalized on Tuesday after allegedly consuming wild blackberries and an excessive quantity of forest herbs.
Officials said the children began feeling unwell soon after eating the forest produce. Family members and locals rushed them to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Dawar for immediate treatment.
Block Medical Officer, Gurez, Dr Firoz Iqbal, said all five children, identified as Rehan Zahoor (8), Adil Ahmed Magray (14), Hamad Magray (11), Junaid Mir (11), and Adil Majeed (12), were given first aid at SDH Dawar before being shifted to the Children’s Hospital in Srinagar, for specialised care.
“The condition of all the children is stable,” Dr Iqbal confirmed. [KNT]
