Army soldier dies after slipping during patrol in Uri sector

Uri: An army soldier lost his life after slipping down a slope during a routine patrol near the Line of Control in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday when Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar of the Maratha Light Infantry, while patrolling a border post, lost his footing and fell, dying on the spot. The 31-year-old soldier hailed from Telangana.

His body was shifted to the Uri sub-district hospital for medico-legal formalities before being taken for final rites.

In a post on its official X handle, the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “Chinar Corps deeply regrets the loss of precious life of Braveheart Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, while performing operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district. Chinar Warriors salute his immense valour and sacrifice, express deepest condolence and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.” [KNT]
