Visuals shared by news agency PTI showed thick black smoke rising up into the sky from the airport.
The aircraft had 242 passengers onboard, the state police control room has confirmed, according to ANI.
Director General of Civil Aviation Faiz Ahmed Kidwai said that the flight took off at 1.38 pm and crashed within five minutes.
